It’s summer… 5pm. Lessons are over, work is done. It’s hot, the sky is blue and there are still hours of daylight left – if you hurry. But don’t miss the elevator! Get to the car, the bike, the scooter, anything, just get out of there and get home! Keys in the door – quick kiss – straight to the fridge for a cold glass of Coke. Happiness. Shot on film (a rarity these days), this commercial for Darryl Ward of Curious Films had about 45 shots in 30 seconds (plus 15s cutdown), all of them requiring some sort of clean up or enhancement. Whether it was sun flares, removing unwanted elements or logos, repositioning and rebuilding frames, aligning elements across shots, stabilising, tracking, and Coke-ifying, there was always something that needed “fixing” – invisible effects that the people at home never see. Even the slow-mo product shot you could swear was shot in camera… but we know better!
