This TVC for Milo Crunchy Bites breakfast cereal takes its cues from Ray Harryhausen and old stop motion monster movies, using camera angles, grade effects, miniatures (the helicopter), and overcranked footage with time-based expressions to create a hand-cranked, vintage-film feel on the shots of the larger than life monster-teen. The end Mnemonic (wheat/corn/oats) was designed and comped at Jungleboys/Emerald City, but adjusted and recombined with a completely rebuilt back plate in Flame in order to smooth out the “hitchcock” dolly/zoom effect (also known as a “zolly” or the “trombone effect”). Flame also stitched camera moves together, created the hand-cranked time ramping, the vintage film effects, and put together the graphics.
